San Diego welcomes tourists from around the world with good reason. The temperate climate, amusement parks and miles of beachfront make it very attractive. If you are seeking an all-inclusive vacation in "America's Finest City, " pay attention to how many discounts and free activities it has to offer you. San Diego tends to be very family friendly, but areas like Downtown San Diego are more adult oriented, so it's also important to think about which neighborhood is right for you.

Step 1

Stick to coastal areas. Because most San Diego tourism centers around events and attractions that are either on the coast or within a short drive, many all-inclusive vacation spots are near the beach. With a hotel in a beach community, you'll have swift access to the water and maybe even a hotel shuttle. Mission Bay, Coronado and west Downtown are among the communities with all-inclusive spots near the water.

Step 2

Inquire about tickets. If you want to take advantage of Sea World (seaworld.com), LEGOLAND (legoland.com) or other San Diego attractions, ask your hotel about getting discounted tickets. Most inclusive vacation spots have a concierge that can arrange tickets for you, but if you want to get the most for your money look for a spot that can also arrange price deals. For example, The Dana on Mission Bay (thedana.com) affords guests discounted tickets to LEGOLAND, the San Diego Zoo (sandiegozoo.org) and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park (sdzsafaripark.org).

Step 3

Shop around for the best amenities. Not all inclusive San Diego vacation hotels are created equally. For instance, the Hilton San Diego Bayfront (hilton.com) offers a monetary credit to be used on any hotel service, as well as free parking with certain packages. This hotel also has a full service spa, pool and jogging track right on site. Loews Coronado Bay Resort (loewshotels.com) has three lit bayside tennis courts, three swimming pools, sailboat and waverunner rentals and a private marina, as well as its own private herb garden.

Step 4

Ask lots of questions before you book. Once you find a hotel or resort that has the amenities you're looking for and offers a good coastal location, ask some key questions before you hand over your credit card number. Find out about meal choices, both which restaurants are on site and if any meals are included in your package, and if alcoholic drinks are extra. You should also find out if you are within the hotels typical demographic - don't stay at a spring break hot spot with your young kids. Other questions to ask include the fees for activities and rentals, and what types of transportation to local attractions is offered.
